Differences Between EAC Certification and CE Marking

EAC certification and CE marking are essential documents that confirm product compliance in international markets. However, these two certifications apply to different geographic regions and follow distinct regulatory frameworks. Below are the key differences between EAC certification and the CE mark:

  1. Geographic Scope

  • EAC Certificate: Valid in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) – Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
  • CE Mark: Valid in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).
  1. Legal Basis and Regulatory Authorities

  • EAC Certificate: Based on Technical Regulations (TR CU) set by the Eurasian Economic Commission.
  • CE Mark: Based on the EU’s New Approach Directives and the requirements for CE conformity marking.
  1. Conformity Assessment Process

  • EAC Certificate: Includes testing and, in some cases, inspection of production facilities to ensure compliance with technical regulations.
  • CE Mark: Depending on the product group, the manufacturer can either self-declare conformity or go through a Notified Body for third-party evaluation.
  1. Product Categories

  • EAC Certificate: Mandatory for a wide range of products including machinery, electrical equipment, food products, textiles, chemicals, and medical devices.
  • CE Mark: Required for regulated products such as toys, construction materials, medical devices, electronic goods, and machinery.
  1. Labeling and Documentation

  • EAC Certificate: Once compliance is confirmed, the EAC mark is affixed to the product.
  • CE Mark: Upon compliance, the CE mark is affixed and the manufacturer issues an EU Declaration of Conformity.
  1. Validity Period

  • EAC Certificate: Typically valid for 1 to 5 years.
  • CE Mark: Remains valid as long as the product is on the market. However, updates may be required if standards or directives change.
